Business programme of the 37th Moscow International Film Festival

MGAP and Education centre Kultburo gave a workshop as part of Moscow Business Square (the business programme of the 37th Moscow International Film Festival). The workshop’s theme was one of the most difficult questions for the Russian film industry – rights protection with a particular focus on film finance and film distribution.

Market players take an active stance on the question of rights protection – an integral part of fim industry development in Russia; this stand is directly related to the creation of an environment where Russian film markets can develop and thrive within a legal framework; from a legal perspective, protection and viability determine the future development of a film business and its assets.

The goal of our workshop was to foster an understanding of the steps that could be taken by each member of the audience to protect their rights and minimise the risk to their films.

Also MGAP presented a prize – 10 hours of free legal consultation – as part of the prize fund of the International co-production forum provided by Moscow Business Square. The winner was the film project BAU/ВХУ (Russia/Israel), director Sergey Shanovich.

Moderator of workshop – Anna Gudkova, creative producer and program director of Education centre Kultburo.
