UK Investigative Powers Act

In mid-November 2016, the Parliament of the United Kingdom passed the Investigative Powers Act. This Act significantly expanded the powers of law enforcement agencies in the UK to search, detect and hack citizens' communications made through the Internet, telephone and messages.

Earlier in June 2016, a similar law was adopted by the Russian parliament.

In our opinion, these laws reflect the international trend in regulating the Internet, including in the framework of the fight against terrorism, and soon the approach reflected in them may become the standard in the regulation of private communications around the world.

MGAR lawyer Pavel Shaidurov has prepared an information letterdedicated to the above-mentioned UK Law.
