The rights of disabled children to free medical drugs
For several years we have helped the parents of children in the care of the charity Sunflower to lodge legal complaints with the prosecutor’s office against the Russian Ministry of Health and its regional bodies for refusing to provide free of charge medical and drug support to disabled children. The prosecutor’s offices from the Russian regions recognisedour complaints and appealed to the courts on behalf of various parties in the Russian Federation. Based on our complaints the prosecutor appealed to the courts to safeguard the rights of disabled children, and the courts judged that it was illegal for the Russian government and regional powers to refuse to provide free of charge medical and drug support to disabled children. As a result at present important court practice is being formed about the provision of free of charge medical and drug support to disabled children.
